Job Seeking Tips
There are a lot of TEFL jobs out there and these idea may help you a little with the application process. Good luck wherever you go to!
1 - Focus is a key word. Focus only on.
- the country or countries you are interested in,
- jobs requiring the skills that you genuinely have,
- posts offering the age and levels of students you can and want to teach,
- the type and size of school or institution you want to work in,
- the type of salary that you can genuinely accept,
- towns or cities with the facilities that you need to live happily in.
2 - Read the information that you are provided with thoroughly and be ready to ask questions before the interview.
3 - Research the town, the country and the employer before making an application. Google is at your service!
4 - Don't employ a 'scatter gun' technique – be discriminating and only apply for a few posts after you have been through the focus approach above.
5 - Write each application letter on an individual basis – standard letters will not make you any friends.
6 - It may seem obvious or even a little insulting but don't lie on your CV or application – you will get caught out.
7 - Keep CVs short and to the point – recruiters read many hundreds of them and don't always have much time.
